The International Advisory Board Members wrote this paper on the expanding but not well-documented movement of social entrepreneurs in Pakistan, helping those from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly girls and women, to build hope about their futures. Of key interest are the challenges faced by women in establishing and scaling these enterprises and ways these challenges could be overcome, including through greater clarity and harmonising of legislation and regulations regarding the social enterprise sector.
The paper was published by the Planning Commission, Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, the Government of Pakistan.
